My name is Trent Hobbs, and I just found your website as I was looking for Nostalgia drag info. On a whim, I did a search for Kahoka dragstrip, and it popped up your site with David's letter about your dad running there.
My dad, Danny Hobbs, was owner/operator/track announcer there in the 60's and early 70's until the new highway came through and cut their shutdown lane in half. I am trying to get some stories and pictures from the track together for a scrapbook for him, and would appreciate hearing from you. I will send him an email with a link to the story in hopes that he remembers the incident. If he does, you can count on me to get it to you.
My condolences on the loss of your dad. He was a racer when they still raced! A different breed than most are today. They did it for the love of racing, not to see how many sponsors they could get on a car.
